Oregonians get more time to file taxes

SALEM – Oregon faces a budget crisis because of the response to COVID-19.

The stay at home order has shut down businesses and that means layoffs.

“We have substantially declining tax revenues,” Oregon Gov. Kate Brown said.

Brown said the legislature will meet in special session to address the impacts on the budget.

“Unlike the federal government, we have to balance the budget,” she said.

The governor has approved moving the deadline to file state income taxes and estimated payments to July 15 which is the same date the IRS set for federal tax returns.
