Snow news is good news

Before the snow, the Columbia Basin’s snowpack was not doing well. That’s all changed now.

“This has bumped the mountain snowpack to 80 to 90 percent of normal, which is a nice increase from the 50 to 60 percent of just a few weeks ago,” Meteorologist Dennis Hull said. “In the basin, snow was heaviest above 1,500 feet and in the Blue Mountains, where three to four inches were observed.”

While there are intervals of a chance of snow over the rest of the week, Hull says a change is coming.

“After this weekend, it looks like a period of drier conditions will return for the early to middle part of next week,” he said.
