WALLA WALLA, Washington – Work is wrapping up on the West Tietan Street and Sunset Drive improvement project. The $1.8 million project replaced a failing road surface, as well as water and sewer lines. It also added a mini-roundabout at Tietan Street and Third Avenue to improve safety and traffic flow.
According to the public works department, all utility work, paving and concrete work is complete. Crews are finishing up some landscape restoration on Sunset Drive.
The project was funded by local dollars, primarily from the Infrastructure Repair and Replacement Program. The IRRP was established in 2010 to replace 42 miles of failing water, sewer and streets. To date, 19 projects have been completed, constructing 8.4 miles at a cost of $26 million.
