PORTLAND, Oregon – The Hoover Gang is responsible for shootings and murders along the west coast and now the federal government is starting to take Oregon members down on racketeering charges, according to the Department of Justice.
The Hoover Gang is extremely violent.
“They engage in violence for the sake of violence to maintain and bolster their positions in a gang and among rivals,” explained Billy J. Williams, the U.S. attorney for the District of Oregon.
Williams said they’re going after gang members with federal racketeering charges.
“We intend to work our way through this criminal organization until it effectively seizes to exist,” Williams added.
They have indicted leader Lorenzo Jones who is connected with eight shootings and two murders. Multnomah County is dropping state charges against Jones, and other members, so they can face federal charges. Those charges could lead to life without parole or the death penalty, if they’ve convicted.
