Public input sought on Oregon’s forest management plan

SALEM, Oregon — The Oregon Board of Forestry gives more time for public input on a plan to manage the state’s forests.

The state forestry department is working on a number of fronts to put together a forest management plan (FMP).

Justin Butteris, a policy analyst at the Oregon Department of Forestry, said they had a public meeting on the draft plan in September.

“We’ve integrated the feedback into the plan that we received at the workshop,” Butteris explained.  “And we’re finalizing the draft report from that workshop as well.  The report, along with the FMP, will be released later this month.”

The Oregon Board of Forestry has asked staff to lengthen the time for public comment to the end of January.
