WALLA WALLA, Washington – The Walla Walla City Council approved Wednesday a resolution allowing the fire department to lease a burn prop owned by Walla Walla Community College for training purposes at the city’s fire training site at 300 Cayuse St.
The Walla Walla Fire Department, in conjunction with neighboring fire departments, is in the process of updating use agreements for the city’s fire training site. Walla Walla Community College owns a modified container, called a burn prop, that’s housed at the training site next to Washington Park.
“It uses wood for the flames and heat,” Deputy Fire Chief Brad Morris said. “It is re-usable.”
The agreement between the city and the college calls for a $200 yearly fee for the use of the burn prop, which will be used to train students at the college as well as allow the fire department to utilize it to learn fire behavior.
