PENDLETON, Oregon – The National Weather Service has extended its air stagnation advisory through noon Tuesday for a wide area of Eastern Oregon and Eastern Washington. Poor air quality could cause issues for people with respiratory problems.
Cities within the impacted area include Pendleton, Hermiston, Boardman, Heppner, and La Grande. In Washington, a similar advisory is issued for Walla Walla, Waitsburg, Dayton and other areas, but it expires Friday at noon at last report.
State air quality agencies highly recommend that no outdoor burning occur and that the use of residential wood-burning devices be limited as much as possible. People should check with their local burn agencies for current restrictions.
