Spokane International Airport

WASHINGTON, District of Columbia – Eastern Washington Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Spokane) announced Wednesday the approval of $11.3 million grant for Spokane International Airport.

The Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation will fund construction of a new rail facility for train access to the airport.

“This grant is another example of the Trump administration’s work to reinvest in American’s infrastructure,” McMorris Rodgers stated in a news release. “The Spokane International Airport continues to be a leader in our community in both transportation and economic development. I’m so thankful for their leadership and excited to see them use this grant to continue to connect Eastern Washington with the rest of the world.”

The planned transload facility will be developed to leverage the full advantage of Spokane’s air, rail and highway network as well as open up over a thousand acres of land for commercial development.

“Today’s announcement places us on a firm course to achieve our objective to be a world-class intermodal transportation, logistics and advanced manufacturing center that will transform the regional economy,” Spokane International Airport Chief Executive Officer Larry Krauter is quoted as saying.
