WALLA WALLA, Washington – Portland-based Smart Foodservice Warehouse Stores want to build a new location to serve the Walla Walla Valley. A proposal was recently submitted to the Walla Walla Development Services Department for a single story, 20,000-square-foot retail facility to be built on the corner of North 13th Street and West Rose Street, next to Blueline Equipment Company.

Construction is scheduled to begin this fall with completion expected in fall 2020.

“It will be bigger than their Pendleton location,” Development Services Planner Melissa Shumake said.

As a wholesale food distributor and food service warehouse, Smart Foodservice Warehouse Stores has more than 60 stores located in California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. The stores were formerly known as Cash & Carry.

Open to the public, they offer a wide range of food products as well as chef, wholesale restaurant and catering supplies.
