Brown brings housing bills to fruition

SALEM, Oregon — Gov. Kate Brown signed a series of housing bills into law, signing four bills that deal with the state’s housing crisis.

The four bills include resources for domestic violence survivors, low-income families, and increased density in single-family neighborhoods.

“We’ve accomplished a lot,” Brown said at the signing. “Much more work to be done.”

House Speaker Tina Kotek led the charge on the bills, making it one of her top legislative priorities.

“These bills and these budget allocations are really important, and will be game-changers for the state of Oregon,” Kotek said. “But the crisis is deep, the need is deep, and we have to keep going.”

Gov. Brown said these bill total nearly $400 million to help with the state’s housing problems.
