SALEM, Oregon — The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife will be beefing up its poaching enforcement efforts thanks to an increased budget.
The Oregon Legislature gave ODFW nearly $4 million in its two-year budget. ODFW budget analyst Brandy Nichols said the state is also funding a public information campaign.
Nichols said of the $4 million, $2.3 million will be used by “Oregon State Police to support poaching enforcement and outreach efforts.”
The state will also give additional funding to the Department of Justice in order to assist district attorneys with poaching prosecutions.
