Suspect eludes WWPD following vehicle pursuit

WALLA WALLA, Washington – Police are continuing their search for a driver who ran off following a vehicle pursuit early Wednesday morning.

According to WWPD Sgt. Gunner Fulmer, officers attempted to stop a vehicle near Link St. and Melrose St. at about 1:42 a.m.

An officer recognized the driver and had knowledge he had a suspended license, plus a warrant for his arrest.

Fulmer said while attempting to stop the vehicle, the driver took off at a high rate of speed.  Officers got into pursuit with the vehicle outside city limits.

The pursuit ended when the suspect crashed the vehicle into a dirt bank near School Ave. and Reser Rd.

The vehicle came back stolen out of Yakima, Washington.
