SALEM, Oregon – Oregon’s economy continues to add jobs and unemployment remains low.
Oregon’s unemployment rate declined slightly from March to April. At 4.3 percent, Employment Department Economist Nick Beleiciks said the state added 3,300 jobs.
“Health care and social assistance added 1,000 jobs and leisure and hospitality added 1,000 jobs,” he said.
Oregon’s unemployment rate has been between 4 and 4.4 percent the past two and a half years.
“Oregon’s unemployment rate is really just slightly higher than the U.S. rate of 3.6 percent,” Beleiciks said.
Over the last year, Oregon added 48,000 jobs with a growth rate of 2.5 percent.
