WALLA WALLA, Washington – The city of Walla Walla and Culbert Construction, Inc. will begin a major street improvement project on Isaacs Avenue from Division Street to Tausick Way at the end of this month. An open house to explain the project staging, traffic control, and impacts on property owners is set for tomorrow (Thursday) from 4-6 p.m.
“In 2010, where we did the survey just on ranking the worst streets, number one was Rose Street and number two was Isaacs,” City Manager Nabiel Shawa said.
The nearly $7 million project will also replace water, sewer and storm water systems.
Shawa added the contractor will not be completing the project this year.
“This is going to be a 2019 to 2020 project,” he said. “So the first phase we’re going to be working is Division to Roosevelt and putting a new signal installation there and a new traffic signal installation out at Isaacs and Airport Way intersection, as well.”
Businesses along Isaacs Avenue will remain open during the construction.
The open house will be at Green Park Elementary School Library, 1105 E. Isaacs Avenue.
