Bad checks are being investigated

WALLA WALLA, Washington – Detectives with the Walla Walla Police Department are investigating a case involving forgery and counterfeiting of payroll checks issued by the city of Walla Walla.

“This was a forgery caught by our finance department personnel,” said WWPD public information officer Sgt. Kevin Braman.

Braman said the checks were forged and deposited into an unknown Wells Fargo branch. He explained the payroll checks were issued last year and then fraudulently reproduced and deposited.

The checks were made for $600 and $850.
