WALLA WALLA, Washington — Dennis Gage, host of “My Classic Car,” is coming to Walla Walla this summer for the annual Wheelin’ Walla Walla Weekend.
Known for his catchphrase, “honor the timeless classics,” his show’s production team will spend the two days of the annual car show in Walla Walla.
Since 1997, Gage has traveled across North America to visit prestigious auto shows and events, spotlighting everything from muscle cars to museum pieces. Growing up on a small, family farm in northwestern Illinois, Gage started tinkering with machines early on and purchased his first motorcycle, a Honda 50, at age 12; and his first car, a ‘59 Ford Thunderbird, at age 15.
Gage has hosted “My Classic Car” since 1996. It’s now seen on Velocity, NBC Sports Network, MAVTV and Rev’n networks reaching over 100 million households.
Hosted by the Downtown Walla Walla Foundation, Wheelin’ Walla Walla will begin with the Classics Cruise and Catered Dinner on Sept. 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. Then the Show ‘n’ Shine takes center stage on Sept. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“We expect we may have over 500 registered cars for the car show in 2019, so that’s very exciting,” Executive Director Bonnie Bowton said.
Stroll Main Street features cars and motorcycles on display lining the street from Palouse to Sixth Street. An awards ceremony caps off this family-friendly event at 3 p.m. on Sept. 7. There will also be many food and artisan vendors staged throughout downtown during the car show. The event is free.
