RICHLAND, Washington — Rep. William “Bill” Jenkin (R-Prosser) has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack Friday. On Monday, Jenkin underwent bypass surgery and remains at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.

“He is currently recovering, and in good spirits,” said Jennifer Hansen, a spokesperson for the Republicans of the Washington State House of Representatives.

Earlier this month Jenkin was sworn in for his second term in the House of Representatives, representing Legislative District 16, Position No. 1, which includes Walla Walla and Columbia counties and parts of Benton and Franklin counties. House Republican leadership recently selected Jenkin to serve as the ranking member on the Housing, Community Development and Veterans Committee.
