PENDLETON, Oregon – Mayor John Turner says interest from housing developers continues to grow.
“George Cress, our city planner, reported being in a conversation with a developer from outside the city of Pendleton who is interested in coming here and exploring building some single family homes,” Turner said.
He says it appears that the word is out in the housing industry that Pendleton has become much easier to work with in recent years. With the increased interest, the city stands ready to help connect the developers with land owners. City Manager Robb Corbett says there is already land available, including some preapproved subdivisions.
“One of them is west of Tutuilla Road,” he said. “One of them is down by Blue Mountain Community College. One of them is south of the middle school.”
Corbett said that the city is also working on the possibility of developing the Goad property on the east side of town. In addition there will be additional land available for development once the new Southeast Eighth Street Bridge is complete.
