COLLEGE PLACE, Washington – The city of College Place recently celebrated the completion of the Fourth Street and Academy Way road project, including the addition of a two-way cycle track.

City Administrator Mike Rizzitiello says the entire project cost about $1.5 million, which about 66 percent was covered by grants from Washington’s Transportation Improvement Board.

The two-way cycle track runs along the south side of Fourth Street and the east side of Academy Way.

“We are trying to get grant dollars to continue the project on Fourth Street from Davis Avenue to College Avenue, then make it wrap around to Whitman Street and Academy Way,“ Rizzitiello said. “In our grant application, the city would also put in pedestrian street lighting along Fourth Street and Academy Way.”

Rizzitiello says the new cycle track is the first of its kind in the Walla Walla Valley.
