Man arrested for threatening deputies, injuring K9

BURBANK, Washington – A 23-year-old man has been booked on multiple charges after allegedly trying to harm Walla Walla County Sheriff deputies on Saturday, and injuring a police dog in the process.

Irwing Gamboa-Gomez was allegedly armed with a knife when deputies arrived at the Vista Hermosa Apartments in Burbank in western Walla Walla County.  While no deputies were injured, Gamboa-Gomez did injure a Walla Walla Police Department K-9. The K-9 officer, Farel, suffered a few minor cuts and is expected to recover, according to Walla Walla Police Department Sgt. Kevin Braman. Walla Walla police provided assistance, which is why Farel was there.

Gamboa-Gomez is currently being held in the Walla Walla County Jail on a $75,000 bond. His arraignment was earlier this week.
