News release from the East Umatilla County Rural Fire Protection District:
On Oct 9, at 6:47 pm, East Umatilla County RFPD was called to a motor vehicle accident at milepost 16 on Highway 204. A semi truck had rolled on its side.
East Umatilla County RFPD had an engine and a brush truck respond to the accident and Helix Fire responded with their brush truck and the command vehicle. A hose line was deployed and charged for safety. There was oil spilled and was a dangerous environment to work in for all the firefighters, officers and road crew who was on the scene.
EUCRFPD and Medic 61 worked for an hour to successfully extricate the patient out of the cab of the semi truck. Lifeflight was called, but couldn’t respond due to the fog and rain so the patient was transported to a local hospital by Medic 61.
