WALLA WALLA, Washington — A fire off Lower Waitsburg Road reportedly burned around 75 acres of standing wheat field this afternoon. The fire was ignited just after 1:00 p.m. and was contained within two hours.

Officials from Walla Walla County Fire District No. 8 tell us the fire occurred two miles north of Valley Grove. The farmer has a disc and was attempting to disc a border, which sparked the fire.

The fire rekindled about an hour after it was contained and was quickly brought under control.

Reports say no structures were damaged and no one was injured.
