“We found that kids that are in our program on average have quite a bit higher Kindergarten readiness scores than the average in their school district,” says Milton-Freewater Library Director Erin Wells.
The program gets children signed up for a library card at an early age and offers monthly incentives to get kids reading.
“In Kindergarten, you need to start working a little harder on certain skills,” says Wells. “If you don’t have the foundations it’s difficult.
