Students taken into custody for falsely activating fire alarm

HERMISTON, Oregon — Two 15 year old students were taken into custody just after 1:00 p.m. this afternoon for falsely activating a fire alarm at Hermiston High School.

Police Chief Jason Edmiston tells us the students have since been released to their parents. “Both are under 18 otherwise we would lodge them in jail for Disorderly Conduct I,” Edmiston told us in an email.

The student body was evacuated from school grounds while police, in full tactical gear, conducted a search of the building.

Classes returned to their regular schedule not long following the incident.
