Bid approved for replacement of Pflugrad Bridge

WAITSBURG, Washington — With over 200 bridges in Walla Walla County, officials say they work hard to make sure they all have sufficient upgrades and are replaced when necessary.

“Over a two-year period, all the county bridges get inspected,” says County Commissioner Jim Duncan. “We have a priority list of the highest to the lowest …and we go out for grants.”

That’s the case with the Pflugrad Bridge, located on Biscuit Ridge Road up in the hills near Waitsburg. Duncan says it needs a full replacement — telling us in an interview the $600,000 bid for the bridge was approved on Monday.

The existing 813 foot Pflugrad Bridge will be replaced with concrete.
