WALLA WALLA, Washington — Charges have recently been filed against a sex offender in a child pornography case from 2015.

Steven D. Lunsford, 54, of Walla Walla faces 15 counts of first-degree dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. It was originally uncovered by a file-sharing site called Tiversa, who reported it to the Internet Crimes Against Children task-force (ICAC), in Seattle.

Prosecuting Attorney Jim Nagle says that backlog was the reason for the three-year delay in filing those charges. “Our office was consumed with homicide, assault and drug cases in 2015 and 2016, and we are still working through reports received in those years,” he says.

Lunsford has been a registered sex offender since 2007 because of a similar incident in Pullman in which he pleaded guilty to communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

His first court date is set for 3 p.m. March. He is not incarcerated at this time and has been asked to answer the court summons voluntarily.
