PENDLETON, Oregon – The Oregon Liquor Control Commission has given Shawn Pace of Pendleton a permit to operate a recreational marijuana business on Southgate. Pace tells KUMA News that the last step before he can open the doors of Pendleton Cannabis will be to pay the city for a permit. He won’t do that until he is fully staffed. He is also buying product.

Pace says the process for being approved was rigorous.

“I have a security system with two panic buttons,” he said. “My surveillance system runs for 90 continuous days with a 30-day offsite backup. All of the cannabis product is to be stored in a huge gun safe  when the store is not open.”

Pace says the building is ready to open. All the cabinets have been installed and some are already being filled with pot accessories.

Employees must obtain a marijuana server’s license. Pace says anyone interested in employment is welcome to drop off a resume at the shop.

He is the owner of Dickey’s Barbecue and said he is keeping the restaurant in addition to launching the new business.
