MISSION, Ore. – The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation Board of Trustees has given Wildhorse Resort & Casino Chief Executive Officer Gary George the green light to explore possible expansions at the facility east of Pendleton. CTUIR Director of Communications Chuck Sams says George will explore several possible expansions.
“Potentially putting in a bowling alley, looking at expansion of the movie theater, and looking at a potential of new floor space for our convention center, and potentially another (hotel) tower,” Sams listed as possible plans.
Details of the possible expansions are outlined in the Confederated Umatilla Journal’s April edition. They include replacing the original motel with a second hotel tower. Another possibility being mentioned is the creation of a large outdoor arena for rodeos and concerts.
Sams stresses that none of the plans are written in stone.
“The board has authorized Gary to at least contract a firm to begin looking at what those costs would be so that they would have options to pick in the near future about possible expansion,” he said.
Sams says that it is vital to the success of casino resorts that they are continually working to grow and change.
