Downtown works toward growth

dwntwn pdtPENDLETON, Ore. – The Pendleton Downtown Association is growing. City Manager Robb Corbett says the organization is applying to be a member of the Oregon Main Street program, to aid in that growth.

“Fred Bradbury is the new chairman of the Pendleton Downtown Association, and he’s working to expand their membership to include more businesses,” Corbett said.

The Pendleton City Council recently approved writing a letter that endorses the PDA for membership in the program. Corbett believes it can only benefit the local businesses.

“The Oregon Main Street program is a program that’s intended to support the idea that downtown is the heart of a community,” he said.

The program works with merchants to attract customers and also offers expertise in how to attract more businesses to the downtown corridor. It is run under the auspices of the Oregon Historic Preservation Office.
